Up until last season, my thoughts about lovely Loch Earn in Perthshire were of boyhood memories; days and nights of camping on its shores as a youngster, catching innumerable small dark brownies, but never anything of any size. However, reports kept filtering through to me about the superb brown trout angling to be enjoyed nowadays on this vast water. Last year, I enlisted the help of Scottish internationalist Malcolm Anderson, whose prowess on the loch is well known. Malcolm comes from Crieff, not far from Loch Earn, and has fished it very successfully in its many moods and at various times throughout the season.
