As far as stillwaters are concerned there is no closed season any more, and unlike many of the older generation of anglers I’m all for that. Why? Because it gives the responsible angler a greater choice, without either abusing the fish or fisheries. It means, for instance, I can fish for tench when they are at their best, not at their worst, which is when most anglers fish for them.
