Westmeath Tourism invites you to fish the many angling waters in the Lakeland County of Ireland. With over twenty lakes, rivers and canal stretches the county is indeed a Paradise for the Fisherman.Anglers will find the premier Trout Loughs of this midland region which include Loughs Ennell, Owel, Lene and Sheelin. Coarse and Pike Angling enthusiasts will also be well rewarded on Lough Ree and the Majestic River Shannon, River Inny and Lough Derravaragh which is famous for its Pike fishing. The Royal Canal which traverses the county has a range of coarse species including Roach, Tench, Rudd and Pike. For the Carp enthusiasts there are two small lakes namely Ballinafid and Gaulmoylestown.
