Fish Stock The Fishery is well stocked with local hard fighting fully finned and tailed quality rainbow trout from a minimum 2lb. well into double figures. There is a good head of wild brown trout and some stocked fish of larger size. The fishery is also stocked with a limited number of Land locked Salmon.

Fishing

Fly fishing only from bank or float tube. Open from 8.30am to dusk or 23.00 whichever is first. Special time arrangements can be made with prior notice. Booking is advised as the loch is limited to 25 rods.

Facilities

Large heated Lodge with seated area. Water & gas cooker for hot beverages, Car Park, Toilet, Tackle for hire, flies & some tackle for sale, Tuition available by prior appointment with fully qualified SANA instructor (Mr Paul Rankine 01358 724 095 evenings & weekends), Fishing parties and Club competitions welcome, River fishing can be arranged.

Accommodation

Accommodation can be arranged at local Hotels and B&Bs.

  • DAY over 8 hours – £25.00 – 4 fish limit
  • DAY up to 8 hours – £22.00 – 4 fish limit
  • DAY up to 6 hours – £17.00 – 3 fish limit
  • DAY up to 4 hours – £12.50 – 2 fish limit

CLUB MEMBERS

  • £1.50 off 4 hour ticket
  • £2.00 off 8 hour ticketCatch and release after limit with barbless hooks. ALL FISH KEPT MUST BE WEIGHED AND RECORDED

    Fishery Rules

    • Fly fishing only
    • Single hook only maximum size 10 long shank
    • Minimum (6lb.(SIX) leader with lures
    • No droppers allowed with lures
    • All fish caught must be killed until limit is reached
    • Barbless hooks must be used after limit is reached
    • No booby style fishing, light jellies, propellor, flicker or wagglers
    • Fish to be returned must not be removed from the water
    • Rods are not to be left unattended with line in water. Lost rods will not be retrieved

    Location

    Travel north from Aberdeen on the A92 for 16 miles and turn off to Ellon. Head west on the B9005 Methlick/Tarves road for two miles and turn first right (800 mtrs) past the River Ythan bridge. The Fishery is signposted.
