Good design is essential to a web site that works!
Your web site design should reflect the quality of your company. If your site looks like it’s been thrown together by a script-kiddie or talented aunt during a quiet afternoon, visitors will not stick around to find out more. On the other side of the coin, there have been many examples where site designers have gone overboard on demonstrating their artistic and technical talents – whilst making a site that is almost impossible to navigate and takes an age to download.
Think about the people that will be using the site. Not everyone has a Super-Pentium with masses of processing power and a 19″ monitor. Not everyone updates their software to the latest whizzy releases of Internet browsing technology.
Every visitor to your site could be a potential customer, and if they don’t have the necessary resources to even see your site – then that’s a customer you’ve lost. A good site works where a bad one can work against you.
