The “2001 Trout Fisherman European Open” will be officially launched in the next edition of “Trout Fisherman”, where entry forms will be available, along with full details of the venues that John has booked. Email me for entry forms should you wish to book in early!This new event is different from previous competitions in that it is basically for individuals. The ultimate first prize is an amazing holiday in Tobago! Bonefishing is high on the agenda for the angler winning the prize – they may also take a guest – with all the necessary tackle and some spending money thrown in. That is not all! The entry fee of £25 gives everyone a “goodie-bag” that includes a brand new Cortland clear intermediate fly line, a spool of “Illusion” PVDF fluorocarbon line, a Snatchback Zinger and a hook gauge. Those items total £50 in value!There is more!! The heats feature a string of prizes. There will be cash up to £500, All American Diamondback rods, Youngs Jubilee Disc reels, Cortland Lazer and Cortland SL fly lines. Each heat winner will also receive a special fleece, and all qualifiers for the final will receive a Cortland prizewinners’ fishing shirt. The prize fund totals over £150,000, so it is certainly the competition to “be in”.Competitors may enter the event at as many venues as they wish – there is no restriction on how many times you have a go at the event. John has secured thirteen different venues, so chose which you would like to fish at and get entered. I will be helping John – as I did in the old competition – with the computer and general organisation. So I look forward to seeing you during the season.
