What is life about?

Well that's one question that Andy Shattock has asked himself once too often. After 35years working in Health Care and Universities as a Lecturer he has taken the plunge and gone fishing Big Time. As a part time Director of Ultimate Angling Ltd, Andy has been more fortunate than most and has had the opportunity to travel the world in search of that ultimate angling experience. Making the most of the summer vacations from University, Andy has fished in North America, Canada, South Africa and all over Europe and has used his wide ranging fishing knowledge and skills to act as consultant to a number of developing fishing holiday operators. Having helped other companies to establish a strong client base it is only to be expected that the lure of doing it for himself was too strong to avoid forever.

Visits to the spectacular river Ebro in North Eastern Spain soon convinced Andy that this was the venue for him. Ebro Valley Angling was formed, offering professionally managed angling guiding services for anglers wishing to experience the fantastic fishing that the Ebro has to offer. Andy has worked hard behind the scenes linking up with local accommodation providers to create a range of fishing holiday packages to meet every need and budget. The untamed and unspoiled Ebro boasts many species of fish catering for all kinds of angler. Included amongst these are varieties of carp, barbel, zander and of course for those who are brave enough, the mighty wels catfish. The Ebro's large numbers of wild carp make it an ideal venue for the travelling angler. Over the past few years boilies have been successfully introduced into the river, resulting in them becoming readily accepted as a food source. This has increased the average size of carp being caught with many now in the 20lb bracket and some recent captures pushing 40lbs.

Ebro Valley Angling offers the angler the opportunity to fish for truly wild carp in their natural environment and of course to fish for the Eboís infamous huge Wels Catfish. These incredible specimens grow to in excess of 2m in length and with hoards of prey fish these amazing predators can weigh over 200lb.

Andy has researched the river and its potential and offers a professional, fully insured guided service to the area's hot spots and best swims. Based in the prime location of Riba Roja, Ebro Valley Angling is able to offer both variety and quality, whether you are seeking peaceful bank side carp fishing or action packed boat or bank side angling for the massive catfish.

Through Andyís links with Ebro Valley Properties, a local holiday home letting agency, a range of high-class accommodation is available from campsites, self-catering flats, bed and breakfast or full board in picturesque Spanish townhouses. If you book your fishing in advance with Ebro Valley Angling you will be met by a company representative your arrival at Barcelona (or Reus) airport and driven to Riba Roja. The scenery as you travel through the countryside is breathtaking. All relevant fishing licenses are organised on arrival so all you need to do is get yourself to either Barcelona or Reus and you can leave the rest to Andy .

The majority of visiting anglers like to bring their own rods and reels with them, however a tackle hire service is available on site for carp and catfish anglers who want it. This includes high quality carp and cat rods, Shimano/ Diawa Reels and Fox Bite Alarms. Terminal tackle is not included as part of the tackle hire agreement and anglers are required to bring their own. There is a tackle shop on site where you can purchase extras should you forget or run out of anything. A supply of appropriate bait for both carp and catfish is available.

Because of it's beautiful climate, and unlike many other venues, Ebro Valley Angling is open all year round. During the winter time the temperature in their region is regularly 20'c - just perfect for fishing. This makes Ebro Valley Angling the perfect choice for a winter break where you can enjoy sensational sport away from Northern European rain, sleet and snow.
